  • Autonomous region of the Azores: 913,5€.
  • Autonomous region of Madeira: 915€.

The Portuguese government’s goal is to reach a minimum wage of 1,000 euros per month in the coming years.

What is Portugal’s annual minimum wage in 2025?

The annual Minimum Wage is calculated by multiplying the monthly Minimum Wage by 14 payments (12 months plus summer and Christmas bonuses). So, the annual minimum wage would be 12,180 euros. To this amount, the food allowance must be added, which is mandatory in Portugal.

What is the Minimum Wage per day in Portugal?

The minimum daily wage in Portugal is obtained by dividing the monthly Minimum Wage by the working days of the month. In a month of 22 business days, the calculation would be:

870 euros / 22, the daily Minimum Wage would be approximately 39.5 euros. But, in Portugal, the payroll usually indicates 30 / 31 days per month.

Are there retroactive effects on Portugal’s Minimum Wage hike in 2025?

In general, increases in the minimum wage do not have retroactive effects, unless specific regulations indicate this. In most cases, the new salary takes effect from January 1, 2025.

Can there be compensation in the increase in the Minimum Wage in Portugal with non-salary payments?
